About Me

Full Name
Emma Louise Mitchell
Carlisle, Cumbria, UK

Inspired by organic forms found within the natural world, much of my design work reflects my personal admiration of oriental textiles and the iconic designs of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Prioritising drawing to develop distinctive prints, embroideries and embellishments, my work epitomises traditional design practice, whilst incorporating original applications of modern textiles techniques. Demonstrating my technical ability to repeat artwork both digitally and by hand, my work often utilises processes across the discipline, from both hand-drawn and screen-printed methods to computer-aided design development. Adopting a conversational, floral aesthetic, many of my designs also have a commercial appeal, being suited to a range of fashion, interior and surface decoration contexts.
